Ballet North is located in the Gladstone area of Kansas City Missouri
Ballet North is a 501c3 non-profit ballet company whose mission is threefold:

1) Provide comprehensive arts education and mentoring to urban core children and youth

2) Produce easily accesible movement education via our School Tour/Workshop program

3) Perform rarely seen full-length classical ballets and modern works in-theatre

We have been doing this with AGE APPROPRIATE MUSIC, MOVEMENT AND COSTUMES since 1977.

Others may copy what we say, but no one can copy what we do.

Our custom designed studio facility features:
- private parking
- roomy waiting area for parents
- individually sprung floors with Harlequin (TM) floor surface for

- all classroom doors have observation ports
- largest studios around, over 10,000 square feet

Laura Luzicka Reinschmidt - Laura Reinschmidt began her dance training at the age of seven. When she was 13 she was invited to join the North Carolina State Ballet Company and was the youngest member of that performing company. Upon graduation from high school Laura received a full scholarship to Boston Ballet where she danced and was a full-time Biology major at Boston University. Laura later returned to North Carolina State Ballet where she danced as a principal in their company performing such roles as Marie Tagliono in Pas de Quattre, Myrtha in Giselle, Snow Queen in the Nutcracker, the Black Swan Pas de Deux and the Waltz Sylph in Les Sylphides. She also became a fledgling choreographer for the company. Since that time she has created and produced full-length, completely original productions of such works as Carmina Burana, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Carmen, Watermark, Cakewalk, Peter Pan and Rodeo. After moving to Kansas City in the late 1970's Laura opened her own school in 1977, and founded Ballet North in 1986. Under her direction the company has performed all of the above-mentioned ballets as well as the original choreography of such classics as Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Les Sylphides, Swan Lake, Pas de Qautre, Paquita, Don Quixote and Le Corsaire.
Matthew Reinschmidt - Matthew Reinschmidt began his dance training at the age of four and has been performing, teaching, coaching or managing ballet concerns ever since. He has a BA in Philosophy from the University of Kansas and is a founding member of Ballet North.
Angela Montressor Rice - Angela Montresor Rice from Sao Paulo, Brazil .She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dancing of London.Angela has studied classic dance with Shirley Grahame and Herida May from London, Carla Perotti from Italy, Yelle Bittencourt and Maria Helena Mazzetti from Brazil.In addition she has studied folkloric dance with Alex Spivak from Russia and modern dance with Yoshi Morimoto from Japan.Between 1978 and 1994 Angela has worked as a classic dance teacher in Brazil and since 1996 she has been a part of The Classical Ballet School faculty.She also holds a degree in psychology and a master's degree in child and adult psychology. She speaks portuguese,spanish and english.
Dr Tom Willbanks - With a Ph.D in Music Dr Willbanks plays for the Liberty Symphony and plays accompanyment for the Ballet North company classes and rehearsals.
Hannah Reddekopp - Hannah Reddekopp returns from the University of Utah as a guest artist with Ballet North and an instructor with the Classical Ballet School. She began her training with The Classical Ballet School at the age of 8, and was a member of Ballet North from the age of 14. As a high school senior Ms Reddekopp performed the role of Odette/Odile in Ballet North's Swan Lake in 2006. She attended the Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program in 2005 and the Kirov Academy in Washington D.C. Summer Intensive in 2002. Ms Reddekopp studied at the University of Utah where she was on a full tuition scholarship for ballet.
Luke Luzicka - Luke Luzicka began his training with his mother, Laura Luzicka Reinschmidt at the age of 4. While in high school he attended, on full scholarship, the summer intensive programs at Pacific Northwest Ballet, School of American Ballet , Boston Ballet, and American Ballet Theater. He attended the University of Utah on full scholarship and danced with its resident company before auditioning for Boston Ballet. From 2001-2006, he danced professionally with Boston Ballet, then returned home to dance with the Kansas City Ballet and to assist with the development and training of dancers at The Classical Ballet School and Ballet North in Gladstone, Missouri. Although he has danced professionally for six years, he says that his training with his mother continues to this day. 2007-2008 will be Mr. Luzicka's second season with Kansas City Ballet.
